The Countdown to Pembrokeshire Fish Week
If you’re on holiday in Pembrokeshire next weekend be sure to check out Pembrokeshire Fish Week. Starting on Saturday 23 June the week long festival celebrates Wales’ wonderful seafood, spectacular coastline and award winning beaches.
You’ll find lots of events and activities to see and participate in all over Pembrokeshire, from fish filleting demonstrations to angling classes, seafood forages to celebrity chef master class demonstrations. You’re sure to find an event or activity to suit you.
With its abundance of fresh local seafood, the festival attracts the attention of many awarding chefs and food writers. Ravinder Bhogal, author of Cook in Boots is one such food writer, here she tells us why Pembrokeshire Fish Week is a challenge she can’t resist.
“Let me set the scene here – I love to cook and eat seafood, but I am a complete fishing virgin. I can barely catch a ball let alone a fish so being invited to go fishing in Pembrokeshire is a challenge I simply can’t resist – especially when there is the alluring bait of fresh mackerel, Pollack and seabass too!
Pembrokeshire truly sounds like the coast with the most!
I can’t wait to pack my waterproofs, to feel the sun on my face, the wind in my hair, the big view, the light on the water and hopefully the noisy rustle of the treasure to be had in the deep. I haven’t even dipped my toe in yet, and I’m already hooked. Here’s to my first catch!”
