The Edge of Love - Keira and Sienna give Wales a glowing review
It’s been a great week for Wales with the release of the biopic “Edge of Love” featuring Matthew Rhys as the young legendary poet Dylan Thomas. Sienna Miller, Kiera Knightley and Cillian Murphy star alongside him in this atmospheric 1940’s film.
Filmed mainly on location in London and on the West Wales coast the ruggedness of Cardigan Bay come to the fore. If you fancy re-living a little of the magic by visiting Edge of Love film locations in Wales we have also provided a few suggestions from our graded accommodation.
The story, written by Sharman Macdonald revolves around a reputed love triangle involving Dylan Thomas (Matthew Rhys) his wife Caitlin, (played by Sienna Miller) and the poet’s childhood friend Vera Killick (Keira Knightley).
The film is released nationally in the UK and Ireland on 27 June 2008. There is an exhibition of costumes, scripts and props used in the film on display at the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea until September.
Reaction to the Film
The film has created quite a stir in the newspapers, Marc Zakian in The Times follows The Dylan Thomas Trail in Swansea with guide and self-confessed Dylan Thomas fan Pat Hughes.
The Guardian’s David Atkinson attends the annual Dylan Thomas Festival and is delighted to meet Dylan’s daughter, Aeronwy Thomas who guides him around the permanent Dylan Thomas exhibition.
The Daily Express travels far beyond Swansea to the Cardigan Coast to visit the land that inspired Dylan’s poetic prowess.
