Just 4 days until St David’s day on March 1st 2011

Its that time of year where parents are searching around for items to dress their children in traditional Welsh costumes.
The creative skills are unleashed on creating that ‘Dragon sculpture’, writing a Poem or learning a song for the schools eisteddfod.

And if you’re not a parent then St David’s Day may be a much less stressful celebration.

Things to do to celebrate St David’s Day

There are many events around the world to celebrate St David’s day, here are just a selection:

Cardiff Parade - The annual St David’s Day parade, one of the most colourful and fun events to come to Cardiff in recent years.

London Cheese - A host of Wales the True Taste Food & Drink Award-winning Welsh cheese will be in London for a Cheese Masterclass at John Lewis Foodhall.

Museum - Looking to explore the history of St David’s day? Then St Fagan’s, National Slate Museum and National Wool Museum will all be celebrating by holding events today.

America - A large number of events will be taking place, including St. David’s Society of the State of New York 176th Annual Dinner Dance at the Yale Club in Manhattan – Catherine Zeta Jones will be honored as the recipient of the William R. Hopkins Medal.

Plus the Cambridge Jones’s ‘Talking Pictures’ exhibition – We will have more info on this after the launch event. Find out more about St David’s day events in America.

Watch the National Anthem video

Everyone may not know all of the words or the correct pronunciation to our National Anthem, but we always sing it with pride.We would love to see your YouTube video response on St David’s day, record yourself or group singing the Welsh National Anthem and post it as a video response.

We will feature the best responses on the Visit Wales Blog.

Facebook Face Paint

We had to call it a day when we reached 1,000 requests for face painting the Welsh flag onto profile pictures. Take a look at the Gallery on our Facebook page to see the first of the finished items.
