As the weather gets warmer, pull on your walking boots and start exploring the great outdoors. Spring is the perfect time to discover Wales’ country parks, featuring well marked walking and nature trails, they provide a great day out in the fresh air.

Loggerheads Country Park, North Wales
Located within the beautiful Clwydian Range, Loggerheads Country Park has a wooded river valley, rolling countryside and parkland. It’s the perfect place for a short country stroll with easy accessible pathways making it suitable for all the family to have a day out in the countryside.
Pembrey Country Park, Carmarthenshire, West Wales
Perfect for families with young teenagers, Pembrey Country Park offers an action packed day out. Overlooking Carmarthen Bay, families can enjoy eight miles of golden sand at Cefn Sidan, a 130 metre long dry ski slope, giant adventure playground, walking trails and conservation area. And after all that fresh air you can finish the day off with a BBQ or picnic at one the many designated sites.
Margam Country Park, Port Talbot, West Wales
There’s lots of things to do at Margam Country Park making it a great day out for all. Teenagers can swing through the trees on zip wires with Go Ape and younger kids will love the adventure play area. You can walk the woodland trails, observe the deer herd or relax with a leisurely stroll through the beautiful Grade I listed gardens and landscape.
Padarn Country Park, Snowdonia, North Wales
Spectacular scenery and a host of attractions awaits you at the 800 acre country park in North Wales. The park is home to the Llanberis Lake Railway, National Slate Museum and Quarry Hospital with it’s gruesome 19th Century hospital equipment. The oak woodland provides spectacular walks but if you’re looking for more adventurous activities you can try the watersports on offer at Padarn Lake.
Dare valley Country Park, Aberdare, South Wales
The Dare Valley Country Park offers 500 acres of countryside to explore. Located within an hours drive from Cardiff, in a former South Wales mining valley you can discover alder woodlands, old coal tips and remodelled coal waste in this post industrial landscape. There are a variety of walks to choose, from family friendly strolls to trails that take you off the beaten track.
